Overview
Fiirnel'ther Vandree is the Matron Mother of House Vandree, currently the eighth noble house of Menzoberranzan and a seat on the city's Ruling Council. She is regarded as vicious and vengeful even by drow standards — a distinction that carries weight in a society that treats cruelty as a virtue.
She has held power since 1388 DR, when she killed her own mother, Troken'ther Vandree, and seized the matronship. What followed was one of the more rapid ascents in Menzoberranzan's history: under her leadership, House Vandree climbed from a minor seventeenth-rank house to the eighth, earning a Ruling Council seat and the influence that comes with it.
Personality
Cold, calculating, and patient in the way that only someone who has held power for over a century can be. She does not forgive slights — she files them. House Vandree's reputation for vengeance under her rule is not incidental; it is policy. Enemies of the house tend to suffer slowly, publicly, and instructively.
Her ambition has not dimmed with age. She views the Ruling Council as a floor, not a ceiling.
History
Rise to Power (1388 DR)
Fiirnel'ther killed her mother, Matron Mother Troken'ther Vandree, in the Year of the Tanarukka, 1388 DR, taking control of House Vandree. The circumstances of the killing are typical of Menzoberranzan succession — but the pace of what followed was not. She drove the house from 17th position to 8th in the intervening century, securing a Ruling Council seat in the process.
House Vandree Today
By the campaign's present day (~1508 DR), she has been Matron Mother for over 120 years — long enough that most living drow in Menzoberranzan have known no other head of House Vandree. The house controls Velkenvelve, a strategically vital prison outpost in the upper Underdark, and maintains surface operatives (including Valera Jazeera) in cities like Luskan.

Campaign Threads
- The party escaped Velkenvelve — a House Vandree installation. Fiirnel'ther almost certainly knows.
- Asha, Shoor, and Xynia's fates after the escape are unconfirmed; reports to the Matron Mother are unknown.
- Valera Jazeera Vandree (Jezerra) was recalled to Menzoberranzan from Luskan — she no longer travels with or near the party. She contacts Othorion via Sending spells. Whether she ever reported intelligence on the party to her house is an open question with enormous consequences.
- Othorion's use of the Baenre name in a crime implicating House Vandree indirectly adds a political dimension.
