Drizzle
Is Six years old. Kavu's squire. Paladin of Kossuth in training. Causes chaos when waking up.
Who He Is
Drizzle is a six-year-old goblin who turned on his own people to help the Forge Wardens and never looked back. He is Kavu's squire, a paladin trainee devoted to Kossuth, Lord of Flames — and by any reasonable assessment, far too young to be doing any of this. He is doing it anyway.
He causes chaos when he wakes up. He gets drunk with Kavu and tells funny stories that make whole taverns laugh. He was drunk and surrounded by wenches in Saltmarsh when the party came back from Wave Echo Cave. He is, in all respects, a goblin.
He is also, in all respects, exactly the kind of person Kavu would make a paladin.
Origin — The Cragmaw Cave
Drizzle was among the goblins holding Sildar Hallwinter captive in the Cragmaw Cave — the goblin lair north of the Triabor Trail where the party first encountered organised goblin resistance in the Phandalin region.
When the Forge Wardens came through, Drizzle made a decision. He turned on his people.
He helped the party. He went with them. He has not returned to the goblins since.
Kavu recognised something in him — a particular kind of stubbornness, maybe, or a willingness to act against everything around him on instinct — and took him on as a squire. Drizzle became the first and only goblin trainee of Kossuth the party knows about.
Kossuth's Squire
Drizzle serves under Kavu as a squire in the tradition of Kossuth's faith — fire as revelation, transformation, and will. What Kossuth's paladin doctrine looks like in practice for a six-year-old goblin is not entirely clear to anyone, including Drizzle. He is committed.
He causes chaos when waking up. He gets drunk. He visits taverns with enthusiasm. He is working on the paladin part.
With the Party
On the Road — Early Arc A
On the road out of Phandalin toward Saltmarsh, Drizzle travelled with the party. Haldak noted that he "caused chaos while waking up to resume the journey" — this was considered unremarkable by the party at this point.
Saltmarsh — Session A15
In Saltmarsh, Drizzle got drunk with Kavu and told a funny story in the Salty Mimic. The whole tavern laughed along. On the party's return journey through Saltmarsh after Wave Echo Cave, he was found drunk and surrounded by admirers. Both occasions were considered normal.
Between the Arcs
Drizzle is referenced as having received gifts from Haldak during the end-of-arc celebrations — Haldak notably forgot to commission Drizzle's gift initially, and had to correct the oversight.
Neverwinter — Arc B
Drizzle came north with the party to Neverwinter, functioning as a full companion for the Neverwinter arc.
At the Tarmalune Trade House — Drizzle accompanied Kavu shopping for a platinum band ring. The shopkeeper held kobold prejudice; the item was extremely expensive. The errand did not go smoothly.
At the Guild Bank — Drizzle joined Pip Stonehill, Kefkas, and Othorion on their trip to the Guild Bank while other party members were at the DMV. Pip withdrew 1200 gold; Kefkas attempted to open an account to the delight of teller Sally.
Meeting Blazethorn — Drizzle and Pip encountered Blazethorn Shadowdancer at the inn. This became one of the more significant Neverwinter introductions for both of them.
The Captain Gregorovich Meeting — When Kefkas and Othorion went to meet Captain Gregorovich at the docks, Drizzle stayed behind with Roland, Kavu, and Pip at the inn.
The Pip Rivalry
When Drizzle joined the party, Pip Stonehill was not pleased about it.
Pip is nine. Drizzle is six. She is older. She is human. She runs an intelligence operation. She has been with the party longer. And yet Drizzle was made a squire — an official title, under a patron god — while she was still being told she was too young for adventures.
The rivalry was real. The resentment was genuine.
It did not survive Neverwinter. After the drow ambush that put Pip down in the city square, something shifted. The rivalry resolved. How, exactly, is not fully documented — but by the time the two of them were sent home from Neverwinter together, they were training.
Othorion spoke to Pip specifically about Drizzle at some point. What he said is not recorded, but it was the kind of conversation that older party members have about younger ones when the resentment is clearly misplaced.
Departure from Neverwinter
When the party prepared to sail north on the Ice Serpent, Drizzle and Pip were sent ahead — 4 days before the party's departure — with hired guards, bound for Phandalin and Saltmarsh. This had always been the plan.
Kavu's Sending from Luskan later confirmed: "Everyone is ok. Continuing North. Sent Pip and Drizzle home from Neverwinter four days ago."
They are currently en route. Word reached the party during the Sea Seraph voyage that Phandalin was surrounded by something magical — Pip and Drizzle were nearby when that happened.
