An envelope bearing the crest of House Neverember, addressed to Alustriel Silverhand. The wax seal has been broken. Roland Riel opened and read the letter privately during travel to Old Owl Well, added a personal note inside, and resealed it — but the original preservation enchantment that kept it dry through weather damage was a one-time effect and is now permanently gone.
Circumstances of Discovery
Found in the saddlebags of a dead boar near the Triboar Trail following the stirge attack at camp. Most papers in the bags had been destroyed by weather; this letter was inexplicably preserved. The animal's owners were nowhere to be found — presumed fled or dead.
Significance
House Neverember is one of the most powerful noble houses on the Sword Coast. A personal letter bearing their crest and addressed to Alustriel Silverhand — a figure of considerable political and magical influence — being carried through the wilderness under such strange circumstances is almost certainly significant.
What Roland Did
Found during the journey to Old Owl Well (Session A07). Roland broke the seal privately, read the letter, added a personal note of his own inside, and resealed it. He has not disclosed the contents to the rest of the party.
The preservation enchantment — whatever kept the letter perfectly dry while everything around it was destroyed — was a one-time effect. It did not survive the seal being broken. The letter is now ordinary paper.
