Captain Gregorovich

A ship captain who commands the Ice Serpent, a vessel bound for Luskan from Neverwinter. Gregorovich presents as human in appearance, though his true identity was revealed to be Gum Gum, a goblin, during the voyage north in B13. The ship was originally called the Azure Maiden and was captured from Idris "Blacktooth" Ferron, retaining an enchanted celestial angel figurehead from its past.

Role

Gregorovich arranges passage for the party from Neverwinter aboard the Ice Serpent. He grants official sanctuary to Othorion (wanted in Luskan for the killing of a High Captain's daughter) but ensures awareness that word of the attack on Othorion has already spread through Neverwinter's docks and information networks within hours of the incident.

He demonstrates unusual attentiveness to Othorion's condition, appearing outside Othorion's cabin door in B12 after a nighttime visit from Lolth in Othorion's dreams. No explanation is offered; the captain is simply present, watching.

Ship and Crew

The Ice Serpent is larger and more heavily armed than a typical merchant vessel. She functions as a specialized transport with internal warship configuration — a Q ship design meant to avoid recognition by changing identity between ports.

Sienna Blount serves as the ship's deck wizard and navigator — a young blonde woman in her early twenties stationed at the poop deck, responsible for charting and magical navigation support.

Shanty O'Brien operates from the crow's nest as the watchman — a scarred elf or half-elf with clear combat experience, the first to identify unusual siren activity during the voyage.

Dolwar Brinebone is the ship's largest crew member, standing approximately seven feet tall. Despite his intimidating stature, he demonstrates loyalty and formality, swearing binding personal favors to party members who show him kindness.

The ship's surgeon is Gobbo, another goblin in the captain's crew.

Whether Captain Gregorovich/Gum Gum harbors deeper connections to Othorion's circumstances remains unresolved. His watchful presence and willingness to grant sanctuary despite Othorion's status as a wanted fugitive suggests layers beyond simple commerce.
