A comfortable inn and tavern in Neverwinter, serving as the primary lodging for the Forge Wardens during their time in the city. The establishment is well-maintained, welcoming to adventurers, and offers both clean beds and reliable meals.
Proprietor
Lorana Delmont runs the Iron Flagon with professional courtesy and discretion. She ensures guests are comfortable and makes few prying inquiries into their business. Her staff is competent and responsive.
Facilities
The Iron Flagon provides standard inn accommodations: private rooms for rent, common areas with a large fireplace, and an attached tavern serving food and drink. A common room downstairs offers seating by the fire, suitable for gathering information or holding meetings with contacts.
The inn maintains stables for horses and has storage capacity for equipment and supplies.
Clientele
The inn attracts both legitimate travelers and those conducting business in the city's more discreet circles. It is respectable enough for officials or merchants to stay without comment, yet sufficiently neutral that people of varying allegiances will lodge there without drawing suspicion.
Campaign Role
The Iron Flagon serves as the Forge Wardens' base of operations during Sessions B04–B06 and beyond. The party used the inn as a staging point for:
- Planning and preparation before meeting Lord Neverember
- Gathering intelligence on the Cloaked Ascendant
- Coordinating with crew and equipment before the sea voyage north
- Meeting with various Neverwinter contacts
The inn's common room became an informal war room for the party's Neverwinter operations.
Notable Staff
Thaum Drannik — A burly half-orc bartender with a gentle demeanor. He serves morning and day shifts and provides reliable intelligence on Neverwinter's factions and underground economy. Thaum provided the party with three recommended contacts for gaining intelligence on the Cloaked Ascendant:
- Moonstone Mask (run by Lizette Sheldah) — high-end; information dispensed through favors owed
- Driftwood Tavern (run by Madame Rosine Dupont) — more approachable; good for reliable intelligence
- Fallen Tower — tavern run by Vagdru Vanir; good for rough information and underground contacts
Pip Stonehill — The innkeeper's younger employee (and/or relative). Pip assists with room maintenance and other tasks. She has become a valued part of the party's Neverwinter operations and is receiving training from the party.
Drizzle — A paladin companion who trains with Pip in the common room, using magical weapons for practice.
Threads
- Parting Logistics: When the party departs Neverwinter for Luskan and points north, they will need to finalize arrangements with Lorana for securing their room and valuables.
- Return Base: The Iron Flagon may serve as the party's base if they return to Neverwinter during later campaign arcs.
