A full noble of Titania's Summer Court — technically a Summer Eladrin, but the kind who makes the taxonomy feel inadequate. He is sometimes helpful. He is always mischievous. These are not in conflict.

Who He Is

Roland De Fey is a noble of the Summer Court, holding rank in Titania's service and acting with the authority that implies. By classification he is a Summer Eladrin, but the power he has demonstrated — borrowing a mortal's identity for years across the Sword Coast, running fae debt schemes, staging elaborate encounters, leading people into the Feywild in fox form — exceeds what that classification usually suggests. He is older and more capable than he presents himself.

His affect is cheerful and unhelpful-in-the-helpful-direction. He does things that technically benefit mortals while also creating exactly the complications and obligations he was hoping to create. He would describe himself as a catalyst. Others might choose different words.

He is not malicious. He is interested.

What He Has Done

The Kelvin Identity

For an extended period, Roland De Fey traveled the Sword Coast under the borrowed identity of Kelvin Fairlight — the real Kelvin's name, face, and reputation, used to do things that were significantly more interesting than Kelvin himself was doing at the time. This resulted in:

Roland De Fey found this arrangement interesting. The real Kelvin has complicated feelings.

Skittlebump — The Sister Spring Incident

When Kelvin Fairlight and Othorion camped at the wagon site after the basilisk fight, Roland De Fey appeared in the form of a white fox calling itself "Skittlebump." He knocked at the wagon door, offered to lead them to a safe place to rest, and collected both their names along the way — Kelvin gave them freely, without hesitation. Roland De Fey led them to the Sister Spring, where Titania was waiting.

He then stepped back and let his queen handle the conversation.

Personality

Roland De Fey is warm, interested, and inclined to set things in motion without asking whether they should be set in motion. He does not lie exactly — fey rarely do — but he constructs situations where the truth is only visible after the consequences have arrived. He is delighted by mortals who surprise him, and mortals who surprise him tend to find their situations more complicated than before.

He is helpful in the way that a river is helpful: it will absolutely take you where you need to go, and the current will not be consulting you about the route.

Othorion Collected his name Holds Othorion's true name as well; Titania noted Othorion was "not whole" — whether Roland De Fey flagged this to her is unknown
Blazethorn Shadowdancer Summer Court colleague Both serve Titania; their coordination, if any, is unestablished
