Vagdru Vanir

A full orc with one ear missing, operating the Fallen Tower tavern in Neverwinter's northeastern district. He carries himself with practiced efficiency and the bearing of someone who has survived through loyalty and discretion.

The Fallen Tower occupies the surviving bottom level of a collapsed wizard's tower. At 1830 hours every night, the full ghostly tower reconstructs itself brick by brick in silence, then crumbles in reverse, with phantom mages falling through the open ceiling. The bar erupts into cheers when Lomnavel — a particular wizard from the tower's final moments — passes through the floor as a grinning skull wreathed in spiraling lightning.

Background

Vagdru owes his station and position to Lord Dagult Neverember. He has proven himself trustworthy enough to run an establishment where rougher elements of Neverwinter society congregate — working-class patrons, contract workers, and others who operate below the official city's notice.

He maintains operational ties to the underground economy of Neverwinter's northeastern district. He knows how to move goods quietly and how to keep his mouth shut about the people who pass through his doors.

Campaign Role

First Meeting (Session B06)

The party visited the Fallen Tower on the recommendation of Thaum Drannik, the half-orc bartender at the Iron Flagon. Drannik suggested that if someone wanted rough information or needed to move goods under the table, the Fallen Tower would be as good a place as any to establish contacts.

Vagdru recognized the party's connection to Boulders for Muscles, a frost giant companion who had traveled with them: "Are you the people who took him in and the ones he sings about?" Upon confirmation, Vagdru immediately shifted tone: "I apologize for the harshness of my previous words. I didn't know I was among friends."

When asked about underground opportunities, Vagdru confirmed his capacity to fence goods and operate outside official channels: "If you ever need something, you know, soldering under the table, let me know. I can bench just about anything." He demonstrated comfort with the request and made clear he could be a resource for the party's future needs.
