Part of Phandalin

The ancestral seat of the Tresendar family and the current base of operations for the Forge Wardens in Phandalin. Originally the hideout of the Redbrand gang under Glasstaff, it was reclaimed by the party through a combination of stealth infiltration and direct assault. The property represents more than shelter — it anchors Phandalin's defense and serves as a symbol of the town's liberation.

The Tresendar Legacy

The manor belonged to House Tresendar, one of the founding families of the original Phandalin settlement over a century ago. The family was party to the Phandelver Pact alongside the Rockseeker dwarves, maintaining the secret of the legendary Forge of Spells. When orcs overran the region and the town was abandoned, the manor fell to ruin. Over time, the building became a headquarters for brigands and thieves — most recently the Redbrand gang under Iarno Albrek (Glasstaff).

The Basement Complex

The manor's basement is extensive and multi-chambered. The crypt contains the tomb of Aldith Tresendar, "The Black Hawk," who died fighting the Orcs of Uruth Ukrypt in 951 DR, alongside the tombs of Elaine and Olaria Tresendar. A secret tunnel entrance leads from near the Alderleaf farm to the complex, used by the party during their first infiltration. Other chambers house a cistern for water, prison cells (which contained Redbrand captives and rescued hostages), and an armory. A cellar door provides exit to the ruined exterior grounds.

Clearing and Reclamation

The party first entered during sessions A03–A04, rescuing prisoners and confronting the Redbrand leadership. An animated Nothic in the natural cavern section was defeated. Glasstaff and the upper-level Redbrands were killed or imprisoned during the barracks fight. By session A05, the manor had been fully cleared of threats.

Authority and Ownership

When Roland touched Aldith Tresendar's signet ring in the crypt, the ghost of Aldith made contact — probing directly into Roland's soul before accepting that the party meant to reclaim the manor from the Redbrands. Aldith entrusted the Tresendar Signet Ring to Roland as proof of authority over the manor. This act granted the Forge Wardens legitimate claim to the property.

Sildar Hallwinter offered to facilitate the party's purchase at a discount and began financing early reconstruction efforts, framing the manor not merely as a residence but as a potential fortified base anchoring Phandalin's long-term defense against raiders. The question of the manor's ultimate form — family home or military stronghold — remains partially unresolved.

Significance

The manor's reclamation was a turning point in Phandalin's recovery. With the Redbrands eliminated and the manor restored to legitimate ownership, the town could begin genuine reconstruction. For the Forge Wardens, it serves as a point of stability, a base of operations, and a symbol of their commitment to the region.

The Tresendar Signet Ring

Proof of authority over the manor, currently held by Roland. Aldith Tresendar's ghost entrusted it as certification of the party's legitimate claim to the property.
