Sister Garaele
Basic Info
| Race | Elf |
| Class | Cleric |
| Deity | Tymora (Lady Luck) |
| Role | Shrine of Luck — Phandalin's healer |
| Status | Active — Phandalin |
Phandalin's cleric of Tymora and keeper of the Shrine of Luck. Until Kavu arrived in town, Sister Garaele was the only healer in Phandalin — a position she leveraged with the kind but firm directness of someone who understands exactly what her services are worth.
She is genuinely warm and helpful, and one of the town's most reliable defenders in a crisis. She is also a sharp businesswoman who does not appreciate competition without an arrangement in place. When Kavu established himself as a healer in town, she made her position clear: he was expected to kick back to her, or deal with the consequences of undercutting her practice.
Role in the Campaign
- Gives the party the Agatha quest in Session A05 — Roland visited the Shrine of Luck to buy healing potions before the Old Owl Well expedition, and Garaele asked him to deliver a silver comb to Agatha at Conyberry and inquire about Bowgentle's spellbook
- Regular point of contact for healing, supplies, and Phandalin news
- Active in the defense of the town when threats arise
Relationship with Kavu
When Kavu arrived and began operating as a healer, Sister Garaele approached him directly. She explained the situation plainly: she had built and maintained the town's only healing practice, and she expected either a kickback arrangement or for him to stay out of her territory. She was not hostile — just clear. The terms of their working relationship are a live thread.
Quest Update — Bowgentle's Spellbook (Fully Resolved A13)
The party visited Agatha in Session A12 with the silver comb. Agatha accepted the gift and answered: she traded Bowgentle's spellbook over a century ago to a necromancer named Surnath of Eriabor. She does not know where it went after that.
In Session A13, the party returned to Phandalin and reported back. Kavu came first — he confirmed the task was completed but couldn't clearly relay the specifics. Roland followed up with the clean answer: Surnath of Eriabor, over a century ago.
Sister Garaele accepted the report, considered the errand fulfilled, and paid the promised reward: 3 potions of healing. The spellbook's current whereabouts remain unknown; the lead on Surnath is the party's to follow or ignore.
