Sandor was an archivist from the ancient Netherese civilization — a devoted keeper of Netheril's vast knowledge, working deep within a flying enclave surrounded by ancient tomes and artifacts. He is known through the memories and visions of Sylphrena, his student and mentee, whose soul he preserved when their shared enclave fell catastrophically.

Background

Sandor was a scholar and preservationist of high standing in Netheril. His specialty was archival work and the preservation of knowledge — a crucial role in a civilization that valued magical scholarship above nearly all other pursuits. He mentored Sylphrena, an archivist who shared his passion for protecting and cataloguing Netheril's accumulated wisdom.

The fate of their enclave is not fully documented, but accounts from Sylphrena indicate that it fell into catastrophic collapse. As death came for the archives and their inhabitants, Sandor took action to save what he could: he used the Sylphrena's Lantern as a vessel to preserve his student's soul, trapping her consciousness in a magical lantern to survive the destruction when all else was lost.

Relation to Party

The party learned of Sandor only through Sylphrena's account and through a vision that came to Roland upon attuning to the lantern that holds her. In that vision, Roland experienced Sylphrena's perspective: witnessing the fall of their enclave and Sandor's final act of preservation, described as an archivist surrounded by burning knowledge and falling stone, choosing to save his student rather than himself.

Sylphrena spoke of Sandor with respect and affection, describing him as devoted to the preservation of Netheril's vast knowledge. Whether Sandor survived the enclave's collapse or perished in the catastrophe is unknown to the party.
