A small fairy with frizzled hair, serving as the Cantega (caretaker) of the Fae Section within the House of Knowledge's library. Spriggle is energetic, enigmatic, and operates by fae logic rather than conventional archival systems.
The Fae Section is organized not alphabetically or by subject, but "by vibe" — a classification system that mirrors fae thinking rather than rational categorization. Spriggle's advice for navigating the section: "The way you figure out where things are is the same way you figure out how to deal with one of these fae objects. Follow your heart, Dingus."
Background
Spriggle serves the House of Knowledge as an intermediary between the fae realm and the mortal library system. She maintains records of fae-related items, agreements, and contracts — a role that requires understanding both rigid record-keeping and the flowing, contradictory nature of fae dealings.
She has been in the Fae Section long enough to have managed packages and arrangements spanning centuries of mortal time.
Campaign Role
The Kelvin Fairlight Package (Session B04)
Spriggle was holding a package that had been delivered to the House of Knowledge 172 years ago (in mortal chronology), addressed to someone named Kelvin from Roland the Fox. The package contained a new dog collar inscribed with the name "Kelvin" and a note reading: "Thank you for another 172 years. Roland the Fox."
When Kelvin arrived at the Fae Section, Spriggle produced the package and transferred it to him. The collar's significance lay in a hidden clause within Roland the Fox's original agreement: Kelvin's name was conditionally returned by Titania only if Kelvin helped restore Othorion's missing memory. By removing the original collar without fulfilling this condition, Kelvin had inadvertently released Roland the Fox from the deal and given him another 172 years to use the name.
Spriggle offered Kelvin a free book: Cooking with Toadstools, positioned as a guide to understanding fae contracts. The book itself exemplifies fae logic: "They're both enigmatic... and scrupulous... and impossible to adhere to and understand."
The Payment
Despite saying the book was free, Spriggle extended her hand for payment — she wanted honey. Kelvin did not have honey. Spriggle instructed him to return when he did, and to bring pizza as well. Her dismissal: "Bye, Dingus."
Key Moments
| Session | Event | Significance |
|---|---|---|
| B04 | Produces 172-year-old package from Roland the Fox; explains conditional clause in Kelvin's name agreement; offers contract guide book; requests honey and pizza as payment | Reveals the mechanism of Roland the Fox's name-theft scheme; confirms Titania's investment in Othorion's memory recovery; establishes ongoing obligation |
Notes
Spriggle's cheerful manipulation of the situation — offering the book as "free" while clearly expecting payment, calling Kelvin "Dingus," and establishing a casual but binding obligation for future visits — reflects true fae behavior. She is not malicious, but she operates by entirely different rules.
The "by vibe" filing system suggests Spriggle has a deep understanding of object-magic and fae resonance that transcends mortal categorization. Anyone seeking something in the Fae Section would be wise to understand their actual question before trying to find the answer.

- Honey & Pizza Debt: Kelvin owes Spriggle honey and pizza. Whether this is a serious obligation or an entertaining whim is unclear.
- Roland the Fox's Extended Lease: With another 172 years to use the name "Kelvin," Roland the Fox continues his century-spanning scheme. What he intends to do with that additional time remains unknown.
