Jarvan Tarmacos

Commander and leader of the Order of the Gilded Eye in Helm's Hold. Jarvan is known for his integrity and competence in managing both the Order and its operations. He leads from the cathedral seat of the Order's Helm's Hold chapter.

Background

Approximately a century prior to the current campaign, the Order of the Gauntlet's post at Helm's Hold had been infiltrated by devils. Jarvan identified the infiltration, orchestrated their removal, and successfully restored the Order to integrity. In the aftermath of his actions, he founded the Order of the Gilded Eye as a reformed offshoot of the original Order, maintaining alignment with the broader Order of the Gauntlet philosophy while operating under his direct leadership.

The symbol of the Order of the Gilded Eye is an eye with a single tear of gold dripping from it, visible throughout Helm's Hold on cathedral and affiliated buildings.

Role in B02

The party transferred custody of Nezznar (the Black Spider) to Jarvan in an official ceremony at the cathedral. The terms of custody specified 150 gold pieces per twelve hours. The transfer was backed by orders signed by the Black Staff — the signature of Vajra Safahr, indicating Waterdeep's sanction of the arrangement.

Nezznar was held under full security precautions (blindfolded, gagged, and bound) to prevent any use of his prepared spells. When returned to party custody, he bore additional bruises and scratches, indicating he had not complied quietly during his holding period.
