The Society of Brilliance is an unusual collective of Underdark scholars — monsters and beings of various races who have set aside predatory instincts in favour of intellectual pursuit. They study the Underdark's ecology, history, and magic, operating as a loose network of researchers who share information across vast distances.
They are notable for including beings that would normally be enemies: mind flayers, drow, myconids, and others have all been known to participate. The Society values knowledge above faction loyalty, which makes them both unusual and useful.
