Mira is an elegant elven woman of advanced years with long white hair, proprietor of the Silver Serpent Apothecary in Helm's Hold. She is a figure of mystery and careful observation, deeply engaged in arcane study and, possibly, divination work.
Appearance
Mira is a long white-haired elven woman dressed in a high-collared, intricately designed robe that suggests both practicality and refinement. The Silver Serpent smells of autumn in the south—earthy and herbal, with the warm weight of dried plants and bottled preparations. When the party entered, Mira was not attending to the shop's business but rather was attending to a twenty-sided stone carved with precise geometric faces, which hovered and slowly rotated just above her open palm.
Campaign Role
Silver Serpent Apothecary (Session B02)
When the party arrived at the Silver Serpent Apothecary seeking potions and supplies, they found Mira lost in concentration over her hovering geometric stone. Kavu's abrupt entrance startled her, causing the stone to lose its hover and skitter under the counter. She recovered it composedly, asking what the party required.
Kefkas requested that Mira translate the Sylvan runes inscribed on the Frostbrand Scimitar Emberwake. Mira confirmed she could read Sylvan and examined Kefkas's rough sketch of the runes from memory. Her reading matched Brother Ferris's earlier attempt: the runes appeared to spell something like "Enderleg"—though Kefkas's sketch without the original blade was imprecise.
When party members expressed interest in purchasing the twenty-sided stone, Mira declined. She stated that she had not yet identified it herself and was reluctant to part with it. When Haldak offered to cast Identify for her, she demurred: that would "take the fun out of it." She spoke of the stone with a sense of fascination and mystery, noting that "it almost felt as if it had the power of fate behind it. But surely that is just nonsense."
When asked why the shop was named the Silver Serpent, Mira offered only a wink and a mysterious comment: "That is also a mystery you'll have to dig up the truth of."
Party Purchases: Kelvin purchased a flower, old suba leaves for tea-making, and a tea set—paid in silver pieces. This represented an upgrade from his earlier pine branch and acorn broth cooking.
Key Characteristics
Mira possesses fluent reading knowledge of Sylvan, suggesting either elven heritage knowledge or extensive arcane study. Her manner is composed and self-assured, neither hurried nor impatient. She is clearly engaged in her own research and study—the hovering stone suggests active engagement with arcane work, possibly divination or fate-related magic.
Her refusal to sell the stone and her deliberate choice to identify it herself suggests she is not merely a merchant but a scholar or practitioner of some craft. The cryptic nature of her responses and the mysteries she leaves intentionally unresolved suggest a person who values knowledge and discovery over simple commerce.
