A compact, muscular kobold with the calloused hands and burn scars of a master craftsman. His presence radiates the heat and authority of the forge. Volatile and sharp-tongued, yet his expertise is undeniable.
Background
Grezkor is a master blacksmith, metallurgist, and enchanter at Flamehold Warrens — the kobold settlement that served Volcathar before the dragon's death. He is an elder of Kavu's childhood home and someone who knew the party leader in their youth.
His reputation is one of uncompromising craftsmanship standards and a temper that flares as hot as his forge. He demands respect for his craft and swift consequences for disrespect.
First Meeting with Party
In Session D04 (2025-12-27), Kavu entered Grezkor's smithy without ringing the bell at the forge entrance. Grezkor's response was immediate and violent — he nearly threw a hot dagger at Kavu, making his expectations clear through near-lethal emphasis.
His words burned deeper than any forge fire: "Ring the bell next time. I will never, ever forget."
Despite the aggression, there was an undertone of recognition and perhaps wounded pride — that Kavu had forgotten the customs of home.
Examination & Commission
After the tense greeting, Grezkor examined Kavu's enhanced chain armor (previously improved at the western Spellforge). His assessment was professional: he recognized the quality of work and the signature of other master smiths.
He subsequently commissioned custom dragon scale armor from brass-colored dragon scales. The deadline for completion was set at the 15th of Hammer — creating a time-sensitive deliverable that the party may need to plan around or pursue.
Knowledge & Network
Grezkor possesses detailed knowledge of:
- Spellforge Locations: Aware of at least the western Spellforge and its master smiths
- Master Craftsmanship: Named Satorian as a significant figure in the metallurgical world
- Regional Politics: Understanding of Flamehold's position and the changing dynamics post-Volcathar
His comment on the party — "What an odd bunch of friends you have, Flamekeeper" — suggests he assesses people quickly and sees something unconventional about Kavu's companions.
Relationship with Kavu
Grezkor's dynamic with Kavu is complex: he is an elder figure who knew Kavu in youth, carries expectations of respect for the traditions of home, yet also appears to respect Kavu's growth and choices. The near-fatal greeting and subsequent commissioning work suggest reconciliation is possible, though trust must be earned through proper conduct.
