A formidable older woman known throughout Phandalin as "Granny Graywind." She ran the Lionshield Coster, Phandalin's primary supplier of quality equipment and arms. The Coster served the entire region, and her business acumen was matched only by her no-nonsense demeanor.
History with the Party
The party met Linene in Session A01 and quickly found themselves conducting business with her. She hired them to recover a stolen shipment of supplies that had been taken by bandits.
The Stolen Shipment
The party successfully recovered the shipment and returned it to the Lionshield Coster. Linene paid them 19 gold pieces initially, but the party negotiated her up to 50 gold pieces total for the recovered goods — a significant success in their early Phandalin days.
Impressed with their competence, Linene offered the party a standing discount: 25% off all goods at any Lionshield Coster location. This discount proved invaluable throughout Arc A as the party equipped themselves for increasingly dangerous ventures.
The Frost Giant Attack and Retirement
When the frost giants attacked Phandalin during Sessions A19-A20, Linene was critically injured in the battle. The severity of her wounds proved too much for recovery in Phandalin. Rather than risk permanent disability or death, she made the decision to retire from active business and relocate to Neverwinter.
Legacy
Before departing, Linene passed management of the Lionshield Coster to her granddaughter, Alara Graywind. The business continues to operate, maintaining the same standards of quality and service Linene had established. Her discount for the party remains in effect through Alara.
