Type Ruined Town
Region Near Neverwinter Wood
Status Inhabited (Reidoth); Cult presence cleared
First Visited Sessions A14–A15
Part of Sword Coast

A ruined settlement buried in overgrowth near the edge of Neverwinter Wood. Once a functioning town, it has been abandoned for years and is now home only to scattered structures consumed by forest growth. Reidoth, a druid of considerable power and knowledge, makes his dwelling in the ruins. The Cult of the Dragon maintained a presence here until the Forge Wardens cleared them out.

Inhabitants and Contacts

Reidoth the Druid is the primary permanent resident. He is attuned to the forest and guards against both natural and supernatural threats in the region. In sessions A15–A16, Reidoth recognized Kelvin on sight, revealing knowledge of Kelvin's parents and their connection to the forest. He delivered a prophecy to Kelvin regarding his destiny and the fire he carries. Reidoth's current relationship to the party remains complex — he holds crucial information about Kelvin's heritage and serves as a guide to the deep mysteries of Neverwinter Wood.

Cult of the Dragon Operations

Before the party's visit, the Cult of the Dragon had established operations in Thundertree, using the ruins as a base. Their activities were disrupted during the party's encounter, though the full scope of their work in the location remains unclear.

Venomfang

The green dragon Venomfang nested in Thundertree, occupying the ruins as its lair. The dragon's presence made the town exceptionally dangerous and effectively restricted access to Reidoth except for those with magical or exceptional capability.

Significance

Thundertree serves as a waypoint between Phandalin and the deeper wilds, and as an anchor point in Kelvin's personal destiny arc. The knowledge Reidoth provided about Kelvin's parents and the fire within him was a turning point in understanding Kelvin's true nature and purpose.

Reidoth's Knowledge

Reidoth has knowledge of Kelvin's parents and their connection to Neverwinter Wood. His recognition of Kelvin and his prophecy hint at deeper magical forces and a destiny Kelvin has not yet fully reckoned with.
